A white-faced heron working the shallows at low tide, seen from the Merimbula Boardwalk as the evening light goes. The bird and the last of the sunset cloud are held together in the mirror of the tidal flats, with the oyster leases stretching across the lake and Mount Imlay standing on the far skyline. The Merimbula Boardwalk runs 3.4km along the lake shore through mangroves and eucalypt, and this is the reward for walking it late.
