A 2:1 panorama captured from the sea, looking back at the rugged southern headland of Twofold Bay near Eden. Ben Boyd Tower sits on the rocky escarpment above — built in 1847, never used as a lighthouse, now a landmark of Beowa National Park. The vivid red of the ancient sandstone cliffs, the deep blue of the Tasman Sea in the foreground, and clean midday light give this image its strong colour and sense of scale. This is the view a passing mariner would have seen for nearly two centuries.
